Electricity Corporations Act 2005

The Electricity Corporations Act 2005 provides for the functions, operation and governance of the four successor entities for the restructure of Western Power Corporation and associated matters. 

The Act received Royal Assent on 12 October 2005.  The vast majority of the Act will take effect on 1 April 2006.

Electricity Legislation Amendments Act 2004

This Bill provided for a number of transitional provisions and amendments to various Acts as a result of the restructure of the State's electricity market.

This Bill received Royal Assent on 20 October 2004.

Electricity Industry Act 2004

This Act provides the legal framework for the restructure of the Western Australian electricity industry, specifically:

• the establishment of a Wholesale Electricity Market;
• the establishment of an independent licensing regime and Tariff Equalisation Fund;
• the development of an Electricity Networks Access Code;
• the development of measures to protect customers in the new electricity market such as the Code of Conduct for the Supply of Electricity to Small Use Customers, Electricity Ombudsman and standard customer contracts;
• the conferral of a number of electricity related functions upon the Economic Regulation Authority, including responsibility for the licensing and access regimes, providing advice to Government on electricity tariffs and electricity market surveillance; and
• the establishment of a Western Power Network extension and expansion policy.

The Act received Royal Assent on 23 April 2004.
