...lower cost, sustainable, reliable, secure energy for Western Australia’s future

The State Government has been committed to making sure consumers have a strong say in electricity reform.

To make sure this happens, it established an Electricity Reform Consumer Forum to exchange views on customer issues.

The Consumer Forum comprised representatives from:

  • Western Australian Council of Social Services
  • Department of Consumer and Employment Protection
  • Electricity Reform Implementation Unit
  • Financial Counsellors Association
  • Financial Counsellors Resource Project (Australian Consumers Association)
  • Remote Control Technology (small business representative)
  • Unions WA

Union Consultation Committee

In many ways, it will be business as usual for Western Power staff. However, the State Government understands that staff are anxious about the future and looking for certainty.

A range of policies and practices have been developed  by the Union Consultation Committee, which included representation from the CEPU, AMWU, CFMEU, Australian Labor Party and Australian Services Union.  Many of these have been based on experience gained from the Eastern States.
